Pulled Oats® Cevapcici
This Cevapcici recipe was inspired by the Mediterranean cuisine and is served in a spicy tomato sauce.
Ingredients
- 240 g Pulled Oats® Tomato
- 1 onion or 2 spring onion stalks
- 2 cloves garlic
- 8 sundried tomatoes in oil
- 1 tbsp Tamari or soy sauce
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp flour of your choice
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- 1/3 tsp rosemary
- 1/3 tsp salt
- Lemon pepper
Spicy Tomato Sauce
- 1 big carrot
- 1 onion
- 1 celery stalk
- ½ tbsp cane sugar
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 cans crushed tomatoes
- Handful cherry tomatoes or 1-2 regular tomatoes
- 1 tbsp white balsamic vinegar
- 1 red chili
- Bunch of fresh basil
- Olive oil
- Salt and black pepper
Instructions
- Crumble the Pulled Oats into smaller pieces. Use a large bowl. Chop and sauté onion and garlic, mix with Pulled Oats.
- Mix sundried tomatoes, tamari, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar with a stick mixer or a food processor until smooth.
- Add tomato paste, flour, spices, and egg into Pulled Oats. Season with salt and lemon pepper. Let sit for 30 minutes. Prepare the Tomato Sauce in the meanwhile.
- Spicy Tomato Sauce: Chop carrot, celery, and onion. Chop and sauté onion and garlic on medium high temperature until soft.
- Cut the tomatoes in half and add on the pan. Fry for a couple of minutes.
- Add crushed tomatoes, sugar, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. Let stew for a couple of minutes. Season if needed. Finish with basil and a splash of olive oil.
- Shape the cevapcici mixture into thumb size bars. Fry on a pan on medium heat in plenty of oil until golden.
Serve with Spicy Tomato Sauce, fresh bread and herbs.
