Food is actually the simplest (and tastiest) way for consumers to fight climate change. It’s hard to believe that we can actually lower greenhouse gas emissions, and preserve clean water and crop areas just by eating more plant-based protein, but it’s true. Just look at Gold&Green – we’ve saved over 3 billion gallons of water over the past few years since we introduced consumers to our Pulled Oats®.
Use the counter to see the positive impact #Oatstanding will have on you and the environment.
Good for you
Pulled Oats® has more protein per ounce of product than meat.
You need this much Pulled Oats® in your meals:
(one serving of Pulled Oats® is approximately 4 oz / person.)
... which is equal to
of the total amount of protein you need
You’d need this much of these guys to get the same amount of protein:
(minced meat 17%)
The calculations are based on the assumption that you should get the same amount of protein from the meat as you would from the Pulled Oats®. The protein content of meat products varies greatly from one individual animal to another and also depends on the cut of meat. In this comparison, we’ve tried to select cuts of meat that are as close to the most common uses of Pulled Oats® as possible.
The recommended protein intake per kilogram of body weight is: 1.1–1.3 g/kg for adults between 18–64 and a little bit less for kids. But it’s not only the amount of protein that matters, it’s also the composition of the amino acids. Pulled Oats® delivers the amount of amino acids you need faster than meat. Good for the planet
By being part of the #oatstanding campaign, you’re saving this many baths full of water (50 gallons) a week:
compared to beef
compared to pork
compared to chicken
Your water footprint is the amount of water consumed in the production of the products you consume. It’s expressed as the volume of water consumed per unit of product. In the case of food, for example, the unit used is often liters per kilogram (l/kg). So your water footprint includes the amount of water consumed in the production of the raw materials and manufacturing of the products you consume.
